TEAM GAME
Get your team together for the first Stratified Team Game of 2012 which will be held on
Thursday – January 26 at 12:30 p.m. Please try to arrive at least 15 minutes early for team assignments.
NEW STARTING DATE for Play of the Hand Class
Monday – Starting January 23 -- 1:15 p.m.
You and your partner arrive at the best possible contract – the defender leads, the dummy comes down and you, as declarer, say to yourself – I have no clue how to play this hand or worse than that, you think you do know how to play the hand and you go down and everyone else in the room is making the contract! We have all been known to congratulate the opponents on GREAT defense – when in actuality we REALLY didn't have a clue how to play the hand! This is your opportunity to improve your play and maximize your game. The classes will start on Monday, January 23, at 1:15 p.m. If you pay for the full 10 week course, the fee will be $78 or if you know you won't be able to make all the classes you may pay $9 per class. You do not have to have a partner or pre-register to attend the classes – just show up.
John Smith will be assisted by (his better half – Marlene), David Smith (no relation that we know of) and, on occasion, E.B. and Sarah Dyer.
70% CLUB
Congratulations to Barb Kwaiser and Fern Shierson on their 70.56% game on Tuesday, November 29, and Candace Loren and Madeline Morgan on their 71.56% game on Tuesday, December 6!!!
GOOD BRIDGE(?), GOOD FOOD, GOOD FRIENDS, equals THE LNBC CHRISTMAS PARTY
Thanks to all of you for the wonderful food, and the committee (Marianne Alfaro, Penny Caruana, Judy Hall, Jeanne Miller, Stephanie Ruther and Marcia Wentz); a good time was had by all!!! Thanks to the Committee's leg work, we would like to acknowledge the following businesses for providing gift certificates for our door prizes: 131 Main, Brixx, Café 100, Restaurant X, Altons, PF Changs, Bob Evans (exit 18), Acropolis and Starbucks. The best way to thank them would be to patronize them the next time you decide to go out for a bite to eat or to have a cup of coffee. The giveaways for Bridge Bingo were provided by the LNBC.
YOUTH BRIDGE
John spoke with PARC and they are going to include Youth Bridge in their Summer Camp program again this year. The Bridge Camp will run for two consecutive weeks (June 18-29) in the mornings. The class will be limited to 16 players, so for planning purposes, we will have a pre-registration form available at the games and lessons. PARC will start advertising to the general public in March and our membership will have priority until that time. Marlene and John will be conducting the class.
